Our Commitment

Our Soldiers · Our Forebears

They stood for liberty long before history chose to remember them.

DHF honors the African American men who served in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War — patriots of color and the United States Colored Troops. Their service is the bedrock of our lineage. Their sacrifice is the reason we stand.

What they carried forward, we now preserve.

Lineage vs. Heritage

"At DHF, we distinguish between lineage as documented ancestry and heritage as lived cultural commitment."

Legacy Statement

"We inherit legacy — and carry it forward."
